In such situations, case studies are often conducted using qualitative research methods. However, some studies also show numeric results by taking the approach of studying a wide range of people, rather than specific individuals. Conducting internet surveys and research with specific individuals on the condition of certain restrictions will bring out limited knowledge of those people. Unless the whole picture can be grasped, an analysis of sexual minorities based on general social surveys is difficult. Nevertheless, several studies using creative methods have shown research outcomes. This article focuses on some of these research examples and summaries their characteristics and points for analysis. It has been revealed that these studies were carefully carried out. However, some people only focus on the results and emphasize the numbers, which are unclear in terms of whether they represent the reality of society. It has been reconfirmed that widely disseminating the importance of social survey literacy and handling others’ research results in a careful manner is crucial.
