However, when the body fat percentage index was taken into account, it was found that a quasi-hidden obesity group and hidden obesity group, accounting for 38.0% and 25.3% of the subjects, respectively (about 60% of the subjects), had been classified into the standard body weight group based on BMI. Thus, relying solely on BMI may lead to overlooking obesity with excessive accumulation of body fat.
