During the Meiji 20s, many long poems were published.  In this paper, we examine “Koujo Shiragiku no Uta”(White Aster, a Japanese epic) in 1888-9(Meiji 21-2) and Soshu no Uta (A Song of a Prisoner) in 1889(Meiji 22).  The former contributes to the continuation of the long poem.
